My credit card has been lost/stolen. What do I do? The first thing you should do immediately is contact the financial institution that issued your credit card and inform them that your card has been lost or stolen. The bank will close the credit card account, thus preventing any transactions from being charged to the account. Upon your request they will then issue you another credit card with a new account number. If you are stranded outside the U.S. and your credit card has been lost or stolen you should contact the credit card emergency services. They can mail you replacement credit cards, issue cash advances, and offer additional help while in a foreign country.
